We are currently staying at the Lewis and Clark State Park in Onawa, Iowa.   It’s a very nice campground located on the west side of Blue Lake with several nice hiking/biking trails within the park.  As with most campgrounds it was very busy this past weekend, but now on Monday we have it mostly to ourselves.  We like it that way.

One of the distinctives about this CG is that they have a weather radio playing non-stop in the bathhouse.  I haven’t asked, but assume it’s because we are in tornado country.  This morning as I was listening I repeatedly heard the phrase, “until further notice”.  “Until further notice you should expect rain tomorrow in Onawa.”  That got me to thinking …

Since we launched our full time travels in September of 2018 our schedules have been – how shall we say – “flexible”.  On most days we can get up when we want, have lunch when we want, and do what we want all day long.  We explore the local sights or ride our bikes around the area.  Sometimes we just sit out in the sunshine and read.  Oh and naps.  Any day with at least one nap is a good day – ha!

As nice at that may sound, there are days when I find myself struggling with, “What am I gonna do today?”

In my quiet time this morning I read, “You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.” (Acts 10:38).

Jesus spent his time going about doing good.  I’ve long felt that is also my – our – general mission as well.  We are to spend our time doing good for others.  Indeed, for each of us that will look different.  We are each blessed with the privilege to use our passions, convictions, talents and resources, in the circumstances we find ourselves, to do good things for others.

So, what should I do today Lord, with my flexible schedule?  What have I told you do to, Rick?  Until further notice, keep doing that.  I’ll let you know when it’s time to do something different.
